Kevin is Class of 2012 in SEAS, studying Applied Physics, and hoping to minor in Philosophy. He comes to Columbia from Bellevue, WA. He regularly enjoys swimming, water polo, and volleyball. When out of the water, he enjoys partying, watching movies, reading, eating, and sleeping.

Growing up in suburban Westford, MA and living in Bellevue, WA, Kevin Zhai is Class of 2012 in the Engineering school pursuing a major Applied Physics and a double-minor in Philosophy and Economics. As the Chair of AAA, Kevin hopes to increase the club’s presence by encouraging more events to promote awareness of APIA issues and facilitate dialogue between different clubs and communities of color. He would like to spend his time on AAA working towards breaking the black and white racial binary as well as reaching out to members of the APIA community who have not yet explored their identity.
As one of Columbia’s C.P. Davis scholars, Kevin is also a member of the men’s varsity swim team and the Assistant Treasurer of the Delta Gamma chapter of Sigma Nu. When he is off campus, Kevin spends his time teaching swim lessons to mentally disabled children with Project HAPPY at Hunter College and tutoring math at a local homeless shelter through a Volunteer America program.
At Phillips Academy, a prep school in Andover, MA, Kevin was the Vice-President of Asian Society, Managing Editor of The Megaphone, Business Manager of Pot Pourri, Co-Captain of the varsity men’s swim team, and a dorm proctor. In his spare time, Kevin likes to search for meaning, abiding by his life mantra: “The unexamined life is not worth living.” He also worships Dr. Gregory House.
