Fundraising

Daniel Nishball, Jeremy Tapp, Sahil Shah, Ai-lin Shao, Annie Tan

We have a small budget, but through dedication and time, we get donations from local establishments in exchange for some perks. Fund raising takes care of the coordinating, while everyone takes part in the grunt work.

Food Committee

Erika Chow, Aretha Choi, Belle Yan, Laura Ly

Fundraising and food work very closely in trying to make ends meet. We have a small budget, but through dedication and time, we get donations from local establishments in exchange for some perks. Fund raising takes care of the coordinating, while everyone takes part in the grunt work.
With the show comes a full course yummy meal. Basically it is the food committee's job to make sure that not only does everyone get dinner but that we can be smart with the budget. We will work directly with vendors near campus and far. Many times the food committee will work in tangent with the fund raising committee because some restaurants want to show support via food rather than money. If you are a foodie, join on board!

Publicity Committee

Erika Chow, Lizzie Shen, Steven Wong

Publicity creates and designs the advertising campaign for CultureShock. We provide the promotional materials, and conceive and execute the method of advertising with the help of the board, whether it be a combination of guerrilla marketing, viral marketing via the Internet, flyering, dorm storming, word-of-mouth and so on. We will be redefining CultureShock for 2008-2009, and creating a fresh image for the show, as has been the tradition from years past, which will be used in all of our promotional items, and continuously reminding the community of the show to fundraise and sell tickets. Our job is to deliver the message of CultureShock.

Tech Committee

Jia Ahmad, Evan Omi, Kevin Zhai, Steven Wong

Tech essentially runs the show day of. You have to collect information from the bands beforehand about the kind of equipment they'll need, you have to speak with Lerner tech about providing that equipment, and then you have to make sure the show itself runs smoothly. Tech runs rehearsals, so techies must schedule rehearsals and convince people to come so that the actual technicians can adjust show settings. One lucky techie will be directing the show the actual night it happens via walkie-talkie headphone thing. Exciting! The job is time-consuming and frustrating, so only appropriate for the best, brightest, and most aggressive. It also helps to be a calm person, so that when the lighting system breaks down at 12:00 on the day of the show and you can't have groups rehearse on the space and you think the show might happen in the dark that you don't freak out too much.

Performance Committee

Julina Guo, Kevin Zhai, Evan Omi, Shilpa Vadodaria, Erika Chow

The Performance Committee solicits performers both on-campus and off-campus for cultureSHOCK. Members of this committee are first expected to select a tentative list of performers for both categories. For on-campus performers, the committee should schedule a time/place for auditions and invite the list of performers to audition before the AAA board. For off-campus performers, the committee should consult with the rest of the board to discuss genres and prices and to negotiate contracts. After the final performers have been selected, the committee is responsible for contacting and scheduling the order/time slot for each performer. The ideal set of performers are those who have already gained exposure or will attract new attention.
